The Optical-Thermal Radiation Reserch Center is a scientific research institution established by the School of Energy and Power Engineering in July 2017. It is located in Qingdao Campus. The director of the Research Center is Professor Liu Linhua, a specially appointed professor of Yangtze River scholars and a winner of the National Outstanding Youth Fund. The Research Center currently has 9 staff, including 3 professors, 1 associate professor and 5 assistant researchers. Among the faculty, there are one specially appointed professor of the Yangtze River Project, one National Outstanding Youth Fund and two Qilu Young Scholars of Shandong University. The Research Center focuses on the frontier research of micro-nanoscale thermal radiation and heat transfer, solar energy and ocean radiation utilization. The main research directions include: transmission mechanism and numerical simulation of light/heat radiation in absorbing and scattering media; micro-scale thermophysical process and energy transport mechanism; measurement of inherent radiation characteristics of ocean water body and Simulation of underwater light field; theoretical modeling of optical properties of condensed matter. First-principles simulation of optical, electrical and thermal properties of materials.
